Nagasaki

The population of Nagasaki (439,319 inhabitants) had reached its peak in 1975 and then began to decline slowly, and increasingly since the 1990s. In contrast to North American and European cities, the demographic change with the characteristic of an aging population has progressed far here. In 2010, 25% of the citizen was over 65 years old. Due to poor financial resources, many private initiatives have emerged, some of which also function as models of community governance.
